Car Insurance BMW (Car Insurance). Getting rid of swirl marks on a dark car?Getting rid of swirl marks on a dark car? I've handwashed only since I've had my burgundy Benz for about 7 years. This winter, once, I used the brush (lightly) at a car wash. Sure enough, I've got swirl marks from that crappy brush. Anyway, twice a year I use a cleaner wax, a polish glaze and then a sealer wax. Im due to do it and will probably do so this weekend. Im tempted to use a rubbing compound first to smooth out the swirls. On the other hand, I'm also thinking that maybe my typical 3 step process of the cleaner wax, polish and sealer will take care of it and smooth out the swirl marks for good. I'm sure it will fill them in temporarily, but was wondering if a rubbing compound or something else would smooth things out better and get rid of the swirls. Also, if it helps I am only doing it by hand and not using an orbital buffer. You will probably need to do more than your usual 3 step wax process. There are many different types of rubbing and polishing compounds and it's hard to say exactly what you need for your car without seeing it in person. You will probably need at least a 3 step machine buffing process, rubbing compound-machine glaze-swirl mark remover, to remove the scratches left from the brush you used. You will have a very hard time trying to use a rubbing compound by hand. first step wash car without brush i ruined a clear coat on a car by doing that. and to improve shine wash car and wax etc a little more frequently than just every 6 months the only real way to get the swirls out is with an orbital buffer not sander with buffing attachment as it wil burn the paint. Even if you brush 'lightly' you are going to get swirl marks. That is why I wouldn't suggest going to the car washes where you wash with a brush. Can you imagine how many dirty cars have been through there omg. Auto parts : Intake Manifold Bolt Set Acura 1995 . Intake Manifold Gasket Alfa Romeo 1996 . Intake Manifold Pipe Fitting Audi 1997 . OK all you Trolls, here's your chance to really sound off......! Why is it, with all the makes and models of motorcycles here, only the Harley's and their owners get bashed on..? I don't see Honda people bashing Kawasaki's. I don't see Yamaha owners bashing Suzuki owners. In fact, I never see ANYTHING about anyone, EXCEPT them with a negative point of view - against Harley Davidson and us owners. I already have a fairly clear idea myself, but I'm curious if others here have seen this one sided bashing.? Now, don't get me wrong here. I am NOT crying over this. I think it's kinda funny my self and in a way, cute, seeing all these candy colored rocket racers getting their panties all up in a bunch over who can share the same freekin' air & road - the fastest..... looking like a flock of Power Rangers in their full colored leather costumes as they zoom, zoom down the road.. Any way, MPH, HP and MPG aside, anyone notice this bashing..?? Now, I ride HD.. I have for years. In fact, the day before I was born I was in the side car of my dad's 45 Flat Head.. Born 1950 and was on his motorcycle till 5.. On my OWN bike at 14, and been with one ever since. If my math is correct, I have been on a bike for 50 years now in one way or another. I feel I have a right to speak from experience... Bob - Tucson car insurance. Auto parts : Interior Light Bulb Dodge 2005. Interior Light Switch Fooler Eagle 2006. Jack Handle Holder Ford 2007. Im just asking this question because i want to know how much i saved because i know mechanics charge huge amounts and try to get more than needed. So basicaly my car was out of oil and the antifreeze was empty and when id add anttifreeze it would all leak out within 30seconds because the hoses were ripped and useless and also the air filter was a mess. How much did i save? He replaced the air filter, hoses which where deep under the hood so he had to disassemble many parts to reach that area, and added antifreeze. car insurance. BMW . How to Remove Car OilOil is the most important factor in properly maintaining a car's engine. Not only does oil lubricate the engine's internal components, it also contains detergents designed to clean the engine. The effectiveness of oil diminishes over time, necessitating periodic replacement. Removing the oil from the engine is fairly simple, but care must be taken. Difficulty:Moderately Easy Instructions Things You'll Need Jack Jack stands Oil catch pan Wrench Oil filter wrench Step by Step : 1 Position the car onto a level surface, then turn off the engine and allow several hours to pass for the engine to cool, because hot engine oil can burn skin. 2 Raise the front of the car with a jack, then position jack stands underneath the car's frame and lower the car onto the stands with the jack. 3 Place an oil catch pan beneath the single drain bolt on the bottom of the engine's oil pan. 4 Remove the drain bolt from the bottom of the engine's oil pan with a wrench and allow the oil to drain into the catch pan. 5 Position the oil catch pan directly underneath the oil filter. The location of the filter varies depending on the engine, but the filter is usually located at the front of one of the sides of the engine, and it looks like a soda can. 6 Twist the oil filter in a counterclockwise direction with an oil filter wrench until the filter detaches from the engine.
BMW . How to Remove a '97 Thunderbird Oil FilterAs oil ages, it loses its ability to lubricate your engine. So frequent oil changes, and oil filter changes, are one of your best defenses against engine wear, according to the Haynes Repair Manual. When you change your oil, Haynes recommends that you change your oil filter. Most manufacturers will say to change your filter every other oil change, but the minimal cost of the filter compared to the maximal benefit received is enough for most mechanics to change them together. Changing oil and filter usually takes about 30 minutes to an hour, tops. Difficulty:Easy Instructions Things You'll Need Drain pan Socket wrench set Filter wrench Step by Step : 1 Set the drain pan underneath the oil drain plug. The drain plug is on the underside of the car, slightly behind the front tires, in the center. Remove the plug with the socket wrench. Several quarts of oil will flow out once the plug is removed. 2 Locate the oil filter. The filter is in the engine compartment on the driver's side. It is in the middle, vertically, and is a cylinder approximately 6 inches wide and 9 inches long. Remove this filter with the filter wrench. Unscrew it counter-clockwise. 3 Pour some oil into the new filter, then screw the new filter onto the peg where the old one was. Make sure to wipe off the area before you put the new one on. 4 Screw the oil drain plug back in to the oil pan and refill the engine with oil. Tips & Warnings Do not allow oil in your eyes; wear protective goggles. Wash one section of the car at a time: Hose it down, soap it up, and rinse it off. When you've finished the entire vehicle, hose it all down again to get off every last bit of soap. Use a medium stream of water that flows off in sheets and makes drying the car easier. Make sure that no water collects in the tiny rust-prone spaces around the trim and behind the bumpers. Don't scratch at hard-to-remove dirt. Soak it loose by placing a wet rag on it. If your vehicle is befouled with tar or dead bugs, commercial solvents can get rid of them safely. Be sure to remove these intense cleansers thoroughly and wash the surface with soap and water immediately afterward. Towel-dry the car immediately with terry towels, diapers, or a synthetic chamois to get rid of water spotting that can mar the car's surface. Chamois are good for this purpose and can be washed, rinsed, and used for years. But they're more expensive, and I find that old, dry terry towels work pretty well, too. Besides, what else can you do with towels that have not only become too faded for the bathroom but are too torn even for the beach?
